Company Overview

UZMAR Shipbuilding Industry and Trade Co. Inc. of Turkey (Uzmar Shipyard) is the subsidiary company of Uzmar Shipping Ltd. which has been building tug and work boats since 1997 for its own fleet requirements and for international markets, as well. The new shipyard of Uzmar Shipbuilding Industry has been established at KOSBAS Free Zone in Kocaeli county / TURKEY in 2006, approx. 2 hours drive to Istanbul, Turkey.

The 99% shares of the Uzmar Shipyard is owned by “Uzmar Shipping Ltd.”, a family owned company since 1984 founded by a Master Mariner Captain Altay Altug and his two sons Capt. Kaan Altug and Marine Chief Engineer Noyan Altug. The parent company Uzmar Shipping Ltd. had initially begun tug and work boat building for their own tug fleet requirements, but the shipbuilding later became one of the main business activity. Presently, Uzmar Shipping Ltd. is the authorized pilotage and towage organization for two privately owned port areas in western Turkish waters at Aegean sea and the organization renders combined pilotage and towage services to over 6000 ship movements per year. Thus, the most valuable feedback from the tug masters and pilots for safer and more efficient shiphandling is directly reflected to tug and workboat building design and shipbuilding practice in the Uzmar Shipyard.

The Uzmar Shipbuilding Industry is able to built any seagoing / inland vessels up to 170 meters in lenght, but the main expertise is on building tug boats and line handling tugs and pilot boats. The annual revenues for the Uzmar group is expected as US 36.000.000.for 2007 and US 52.000.000.for 2008.
